When I look at my photographs of the women who died, I find that these women remain as much alive in me as those who survived the disease.

Erica Berger is a graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville where she received her B.S. in Journalism. She has been employed as a photojournalist for The Miami Herald and New York Newsday. Currently she is freelancing as a photographer for Newsweek, New Women, Business Week and Smart Kid magazines. Recently she published a book entitled, with author Irene Virag. Erica has been nominated for a Pulitizer Prize in 1992, 1993 and 1994. Other awards include being the winner of the New York Newspaper Publisher's Association Distinguished Community Service Award, Associated Press Awards, Society of Professional Journalists Deadline Award and Newswomen's Club of New York Front Page Awards. Her works have been exhibited in major galleries throughout the country.
