A HAND FULL OF HAIR

April

Three weeks of chemotherapy.
What a drag.
I need to get out-
to do something fun.
"Let's go to the ice-show tonight,"
volunteers my husband.
Ideal.
A deal.
A shower and quick shampoo,
-a hand full of hair!
-a wad of hair!
Stunning disbelief-
and simultaneous knowledge
that I am not to be spared
this side-effect.
Ice show, yes. Fun, no.
For in the darkness
the audience cannot see
the flow of tears
cascading.
