In an effort to meet the needs of consumers, On May 21, 1996 we convened a
Consumer Advisory Panel comprised of a diverse group of breast cancer health
educators, activists, nurses, a physician, a lawyer, and a bioethicist. The
panel met for an all-day meeting at the Public Health Institute
where we reviewed our website ideas, identified potential problems, proposed
ideas for additional information needed by breast cancer patients, and
identified on-line formats that would encourage consumer use. Our Consumer
